Creating Seed Data

SEED DATA – Used for the initial assigning of tags as well as adding new tags as time passes.

This is the simple database that your mobile RFID device will reference when assigning tags to our system.

For example: You scan tag 9847309287309856987 and tell our system that tag 9847309287309856987 is Item # 1001, the system will then populate the other information about item #1001 such as its name and warehouse location to start. Later, as part of the tag assignment process, you will be adding more data which will be covered at a later time.

1. Export data from your existing system

If your current rental system has the ability of exporting your inventory data, do the following:

You need to export the following information from your existing system.

Item number

This is the number that your rental software uses to identify the item. Some systems will call this the rental class, SKU, item number or other.

Example: 1001, TT05, 9B389FDS

Item Name

This is a common name you use to identify that item.

Example: 40x20 Century MID, 40x20 Century Lace END or 40x20 Century LE, White Polyfold Chair, 13x13 Clown Bounce House

Bin Location (*Optional)

This is the location in your warehouse where this item resides. Example M1-03, Aisle M, Outside, AN- Rack 2

Note: At this time, seed data needs to be captured on import or in the cloud software interface. You cannot update this on the mobile device as you add tags. 

*If you choose not to include bin locations you will still need to import this column. Underneath the column title Bin Location just put the word NONE in the first cell (This would be cell C2 in the example sheet below) and then you can leave the rest of the cells in this column blank. 

You can title your spreadsheet to start but you will be deleting that top row before import.

Your final spreadsheet should look similar to the example below and should only contain these three fields in this exact order.

NOTE: You can export everything or export certain categories, such as tents, linens and inflatables.

If you want to import one category at a time you can, or you can do all categories at once.

You can also update or import more items at a later date as you add inventory.
